Greg Abbott says Biden administration ‘flip-flopped’ on closing overwhelmed Texas-Mexico border crossings
Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott reversed course on shutting down six ports of entry with Mexico on Thursday, saying the Biden administration “flip-flopped” on the technique and has deserted border safety.
“Six hours after U.S. Customs and Border Safety requested assist from Texas to shut ports of entry and safe the border, the Biden Administration has now flip-flopped to a unique technique that abandons border safety and as an alternative makes it simpler for individuals to cross illegally and for cartels to take advantage of the border,” Abbott’s office said in an announcement. “The Biden Administration is in full disarray and is dealing with the border disaster as badly because the evacuation from Afghanistan.”
Abbott had stated earlier on Thursday that he was appearing on a federal authorities request and instructed the Division of Public Security and the Texas Nationwide Guard to close down six factors of entry on the southern border to “cease these caravans from overrunning our state.”

CBP and Abbott’s workplace didn’t instantly return Fox Information’s requests for remark.
The information comes because the disaster on the border continues, with greater than 200,000 migrant encounters on the southern border in August.
