Miami police officer dies after being shot by theft suspect

A Miami-Dade Police Division detective who was shot within the head throughout a gunfight with a theft suspect earlier this week succumbed to his accidents on Wednesday, Miami-Dade Police Director Alfredo Ramirez introduced. 

Cesar “Echy” Echaverry, 29, had been on the pressure for 5 years and served as member of the theft intervention element.

Echaverry noticed the car, which was being pushed by 32-year-old Jeremy Horton, and tried to tug him over on Monday night. 

Horton crashed his car and fled on foot earlier than a shootout erupted, leaving Horton useless and Echaverry critically wounded. 

“I’m heartbroken to be taught of Detective Cesar Echaverry’s dying,” Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava mentioned in a press release. “He laid down his life to cease a violent prison, and we might be without end grateful for his selfless service and sacrifice to our neighborhood.”
