First Afghan refugees arrive in Massachusetts

BOSTON (CBS) — The primary Afghan refugees arrived in Massachusetts this week.

The Governor’s workplace introduced {that a} household of three arrived on Friday.

“Massachusetts is happy to welcome the primary household of Afghan evacuees to the Commonwealth, and appears ahead to working with the federal authorities and native nonprofits who serve these populations as further evacuees arrive within the coming weeks and months,” stated the Governor’s workplace in an announcement.

Officers are saying that the household is working with an area non-profit resettlement company on subsequent steps.

In keeping with State Division knowledge for the Afghan Placement and Help program obtained by The Associated Press, roughly 900 evacuees will probably be delivered to Massachusetts.
