Delight flag hanging exterior Arizona Metropolis Corridor taken down and burned, police examine

Police had been investigating Tuesday after somebody took down and burned a Delight flag that was hanging exterior Tempe Metropolis Corridor.

Metropolis officers stated they’ve already changed the Delight flag and flagpole that was broken and the Delight flag was the one one vandalized.

“This act of aggression doesn’t signify our neighborhood,” Metropolis Supervisor Andrew Ching stated in a press release. “Hate has no place in Tempe. We’re dedicated to championing range, inclusion and fairness and making certain that our neighborhood is secure and welcoming for everybody.”

To commemorate Delight Month, which celebrates the LGBTQ+ neighborhood, the town raised a Delight flag that has the Metropolis of Tempe emblem on it at metropolis amenities.

The flag was represented together with the American flag, the state flag and a Juneteenth flag for the month of June.

“We is not going to stand by whereas somebody tries to threaten, bully and intimidate members of our neighborhood,” Tempe Mayor Corey Woods stated. “We are going to proceed our efforts to make our metropolis stronger, much more welcoming and much more inclusive. We assist our LGBTQ+ neighborhood. We stand as one with them.”

The incident comes because the Human Rights Marketing campaign declared a nationwide state of emergency Tuesday for LGBTQ+ Individuals, who the marketing campaign says are dealing with extremist makes an attempt to roll again their rights.
