Bhubaneswar: Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal on Monday asserted academic establishments can’t be allowed to develop into “political adda”, and vowed “strong action” in opposition to the perpetrators of Sunday night time violence at JNU.
Pokhriyal, who was right here to attend some official occasions, mentioned academic establishments had been meant just for imparting schooling and shouldn’t be used for political functions.
“I have said this earlier also that these autonomous institutions cannot be allowed to become political ‘adda’ (dens). Strong action will be initiated against people involved in such an attack,” he instructed reporters.
The minister’s feedback got here a day after the celebrated JNU campus was rocked by unprecedented violence, with masked males brandishing iron rods and sticks happening the rampage, leaving scores injured, together with its college students’ union president Aishe Ghosh.
College students affiliated to Left events and RSS-backed ABVP have blamed one another for the violence.
