The Amtrak Pacific Surfliner service will restore weekend service between San Diego and Los Angeles, beginning on February 4.
The Los Angeles – San Diego – San Luis Obispo (LOSSAN) Rail Hall Company introduced the passenger rail service between Oceanside and Irvine would run once more on Saturdays and Sundays after the route was suspended on September 30, 2022.
The restored Pacific Surfliner service contains Southbound trains (562, 564, 770, 774, 580, 784, and 588) and Northbound trains (765, 567, 777, 581, 785, 591, and 595).
Amtrak suspended the route when security officers observed motion of the tracks and the adjoining hillside. Emergency building work began a short while later and stabilized the tracks in south San Clemente, clearing the way in which for some rail service to renew.
“The security of our passengers and crew is our high precedence, and I need to thank our clients for his or her persistence throughout this prolonged observe closure,” LOSSAN Company Managing Director Jason Jewell mentioned. “We’re excited to renew weekend Pacific Surfliner practice service between Los Angeles and San Diego.”
The Pacific Surfliner will solely function on weekends whereas building continues on weekdays till the challenge is accomplished in March.
Because the closure, Amtrak has operated shuttle buses between Irvine and Oceanside stations to take care of important connections between Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego Counties.
Restricted practice service to San Juan Capistrano was restored on October 31, 2022.
