Rahul condemns attack on Nankana Sahib in Pakistan

New Delhi: A day after tons of of individuals attacked the Nankana Sahib Gurdwara, the birthplace of Guru Nanak, in Pakistan, former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi condemned it, saying bigotry is harmful and love is its solely identified antidote.

Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter and wrote, “The assault on Nankana Sahab is reprehensible and have to be condemned unequivocally. Bigotry is a harmful, age previous poison that is aware of no borders.
Love + Mutual Respect + Understanding is its solely identified antidote.”

His remarks got here a day after the Gurudwara was attacked by a Muslim mob whereas Sikh devotees had been caught contained in the shrine.

The mob that had gathered outdoors raised communal and hateful slogans in opposition to the minority group and pelted stones on the shrine, movies circulated on social media confirmed.

Pakistani sources stated the mob was led by the household of Mohammed Hassan, the person who had kidnapped and transformed a sick woman Jagjit Kaur, to protest police motion in opposition to him.

The Nankana Saheb assault is violative of the 1955 Pant-Mirza Settlement underneath which India and Pakistan are obliged “to make every effort to ensure that the places of worship” visited by members of their international locations are correctly maintained and their sanctity preserved.”
