Quit India Day: President’s ‘At Home’ Reception For Freedom Fighters Skipped

New Delhi: Not like earlier years, President Ram Nath Kovind didn’t host the ‘At Home’ reception to honour freedom fighters on the 78th anniversary of ‘Quit India’ Day on Sunday as a result of ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Yearly, the President hosts the ‘At Home’ reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan on the anniversary of the Give up India Motion on August 9.

The President, nevertheless, honoured and felicitated 202 freedom fighters from throughout the nation on the event, and state and Union Territory governments have been requested to ship the District Justice of the Peace/Extra District Justice of the Peace/Sub Divisional Justice of the Peace to felicitate these freedom fighters with a scarf and ‘angavastram’ at their houses on behalf of the President.

The Rashtrapati Bhavan offered the angvastram and shawls to the state and UTs governments via their Resident Commissioners.

Earlier within the day, the President penned down just a few phrases on the event.
