WI lawmakers set to vote on GOP-backed payments that will dramatically enhance reckless driving penalties

Penalties for reckless driving would dramatically enhance beneath a pair of Republican-backed payments that Wisconsin lawmakers are set to vote on Wednesday.

The payments’ chief authors, Rep. Bob Donovan and Sen. Duey Stroebel, stated they launched the laws in response to what they are saying are rising incidents of reckless driving in Milwaukee. The Milwaukee Police Affiliation, the League of Wisconsin Municipalities and the Unbiased Insurance coverage Brokers of Wisconsin all help the payments. No teams have registered towards the laws.

Donovan stated in written remarks submitted to the Meeting public security committee that the Milwaukee Police Division issued 497 citations for reckless driving in 2022, up 32% from 2021.
