Texas GOP advances voting invoice after Democrats finish weeks-long walkout

Texas Republicans this week superior a controversial voting invoice, dwindling Democrats’ possibilities of sinking it following a staged weeks-long walkout from the Legislature. 

The invoice handed the Texas Home on a 79-37 largely party-line vote, after the Democrats returned to the chamber final week, giving Republicans the quorum essential to vote.

Whereas Republicans say the invoice, which amongst different issues would ban drive-through voting and put extra restrictions on mail-in voting, is to make elections safer, Democrats declare it’s voter suppression particularly geared toward voters of coloration.

The invoice will now return to the state Senate, which already handed an identical one, leaving Democrats little energy to cease it.
