Lindsey Graham praises Trump after SCOTUS overturns Roe: ‘deserves the lion’s share of credit score’

Republican South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham celebrated the U.S. Supreme Court docket overturning Roe. V. Wade, and stated former President Donald Trump deserves credit score for the landmark resolution.

“President Trump deserves the lion’s share of credit score right here. He fought like a tiger to place three constitutional conservative judges on the courtroom. He stood behind Kavanaugh and all of us who’ve been working for the final 50 years to get this proper to have a constitutional reset,” Graham stated on “Fox Information Sunday.”

“Friday was an excellent day,” Graham added. 

Trump efficiently nominated three candidates to serve on the Supreme Court docket throughout his tenure as president, giving the courtroom a conservative majority. The courtroom voted 6-Three to overturn Roe v. Wade on Friday, which successfully ended the popularity of abortion as a constitutional proper.

Trump celebrated the choice, arguing the ruling “will work out for everyone” as state’s will now maintain extra energy on abortion entry.

The previous president didn’t take credit score for any position within the landmark abortion resolution in his remarks to Fox Information, saying as an alternative that “God made the choice.”

Graham drew a parallel on “Fox Information Sunday” between Justice Clarence Thomas’ contentious Supreme Court docket nomination and Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s, saying the Republican presidents throughout each hearings stood by their candidates.

“I actually respect Clarence Thomas. They tried to destroy him. Keep in mind his affirmation course of? They tried to destroy Kavanaugh. Bush 41 stood by Clarence Thomas, President Trump stood by Kavanaugh and right here we’re right this moment,” Graham stated.
