Pakistan Rejects Fresh Map Issued By India

Islamabad: The Pakistan authorities on Sunday rejected the newest political maps issued by India, which confirmed all the Kashmir area as its half, calling them “incorrect and legally untenable”.

Indian on Saturday launched recent maps of newly created Union Territories (UTs) of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh and the map of India depicting these UTs.

Within the maps, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir is a part of the newly created Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, whereas Gilgit-Baltistan is within the UT of Ladakh.

In a press release on Sunday, the Pakistan International Workplace mentioned, “(The political maps) displaying Jammu and Kashmir region and seeking to depict parts of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir within the territorial jurisdiction of India, are incorrect, legally untenable, void and in complete violation of the relevant United Nations Security Council Resolutions”.

“Pakistan rejects these political maps, which are incompatible with the United Nations’ maps,” the International Workplace mentioned.

Pakistan mentioned that no step by India can change the “disputed” standing of Jammu and Kashmir, which has been “recognised by the United Nations”.

It mentioned such measures by the Authorities of India can’t prejudice the inalienable proper to self-determination of the folks of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The International Workplace mentioned Pakistan would proceed supporting the legit wrestle of the folks of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir for exercising their proper to self-determination in accordance with the related UN Safety Council Resolutions.

The recent maps had been launched after the Indian authorities bifurcated Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday into two union territories — Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh — in accordance with the Indian authorities’s August 5 announcement revoking the state’s particular standing underneath Article 370.
