New Delhi: The federal government informed the Lok Sabha on Thursday that it has no plans to deliver extra amendments to the Motor Automobiles Act whereas confirming that highway accidents and fatalities have lowered.
This was said by Minister of Street Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, whereas replying to a query from CPI MP M. Selvaraj.
Gadkari stated the ministry has not obtained any data from any state that they don’t seem to be implementing the provisions of the Motor Automobiles (Modification) Act, 2019.
Citing statistics, Gadkari stated in September-October, 2018, Uttar Pradesh noticed 1,503 highway fatalities whereas in the identical interval in 2019, the determine got here down by 9.eight per cent to 1,355.
Gujarat noticed a 13.eight per cent discount in fatalities from 557 to 480, whereas in Bihar there have been 411 deaths, down by 10.5 per cent, from 459 in September-October, 2018, he stated.
