India can set up base on Moon in 10 years: Ex-DRDO scientist

New Delhi: Former DRDO scientist A Sivathanu Pillai has claimed India will be capable to arrange a base on the floor of Moon in ten years for extraction of the Helium-3.

Chatting with the “War and Peace” programme on DD Information, Pillai mentioned, “In space programme, we are one of the four countries that has complete mastery over technology.”

Pillai, who had spearheaded the Brahmos Missiles programme, mentioned, “India will be able to set up a factory on Moon to process huge reserves of precious raw material and bring the extracted Helium-3 to Earth,” a press release by Struggle and Peace mentioned.

Helium-Three would be the new vitality materials for future, he mentioned.

Helium-Three is a non radioactive materials that may produce 100 occasions extra vitality than Uranium.

Pillai mentioned India’s base on Moon may even “become a hub for future launches” for missions to different planets within the photo voltaic system.

He mentioned, “Now, there are interests from the US, Russia and China to create base on Moon, (so) India will naturally follow”.
