New Delhi: The Authorities on Thursday issued an ordinance to ban e-cigarettes making the manufacturing, import, export, transport, sale or commercials of such “alternative” smoking gadgets a cognizable offence attracting jail time period and positive.
First time violators will face a jail time period of as much as one 12 months and a positive of Rs 1 lakh. For subsequent offences, a jail time period of as much as three years or a positive of Rs 5 lakh, or each in keeping with the ordinance.
The storage of e-cigarettes shall now be punishable with imprisonment of as much as six months or a positive of as much as Rs 50,000 or each.
The Union Cupboard on Wednesday determined to ban manufacturing, import, distribution and sale of digital cigarettes, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman mentioned.
Sitharaman, who had headed a Group of Ministers (GoM) on the problem, mentioned the Cupboard determined to ban e-cigarettes and comparable merchandise as they pose well being threat to folks, particularly the youth.
