DNA Technology Regulation Bill referred to Parliamentary panel

New Delhi: The DNA Know-how Regulation Invoice that gives for the institution of a nationwide DNA information financial institution and regional DNA information banks and was handed by Lok Sabha in July has been referred to a parliamentary standing committee for examination and are available again with a report in three months.

“Members are informed that the Chairman, Rajya Sabha in consultation with the Speaker, Lok Sabha has referred the DNA Technology (Use and Application) Regulation Bill, 2019, as introduced in Lok Sabha, to the Standing Committee on Science and Technology, Environment and Forests for examination and report within three months,” the Lok Sabha secretariat stated in a bulletin.

Earlier, the Lok Sabha had handed “The DNA Know-how (Use and Software) Regulation Invoice, 2019 with voice vote after a short dialogue in January.

The invoice couldn’t be cleared within the Rajya Sabha and lapsed with the dissolution of the earlier Lok Sabha.

The invoice has gone by way of the scrutiny of a number of consultants within the final 15 years.
