Muzaffarnagar: The Authorities Railway Police (GRP) has filed a cost sheet towards 5 Railway officers in reference to the Kalinga Utkal Specific accident of August 2017 during which 23 individuals have been killed and over 100 injured, officers mentioned on Sunday.
The cost sheet was filed in a courtroom right here towards the then Senior Part Engineer Inderjit Singh, the then Junior Engineer Pradeep Kumar, the then Station Grasp Prakash Chand, the then Part Controller P V Taneja and hammer man Jitendra underneath sections 304A (inflicting loss of life by negligence), 147, 337, 338, 427 and 279 of the Indian Penal Code, they mentioned.
Sources mentioned departmental motion was earlier taken towards these officers. Pradeep Kumar was dismissed from service. P V Taneja and Prakash Chand have been compulsorily retired, and a warning was issued to Inderjit Singh, they added.
GRP Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramesh Chandra instructed PTI that an investigation discovered these officers chargeable for the accident.
The Kalinga Utkal Specific was on its method from Puri (Odisha) to Haridwar(Uttarakhand) when 14 coaches of the practice derailed at Khatauli within the district on August 19, 2017, killing 23 individuals.
The injured passengers have been admitted to varied hospitals in Meerut and Muzaffarnagar.
