Swimming: Singapore’s Yip Pin Xiu wins gold in girls’s 100m backstroke S2 at Tokyo Paralympics

With a fourth Paralympic gold in hand, Yip’s achievement is “merely legendary”, stated Minister for Tradition, Neighborhood and Youth Edwin Tong.

“That is regardless of preparations disrupted by a pandemic, severely impacting her alternatives to coach and compete internationally,” stated Mr Tong in a Fb submit.

“It’s regardless of her situation, which causes her muscle tissue to degenerate with age. All her onerous work to find other ways to coach, organising time trials and collaborating in native meets have paid off!”

Mr Tong added that Yip has proven “what it means to be resilient amid tough occasions”.

“Congrats Pin Xiu! We’re all extremely happy with you. Wanting ahead to your subsequent race.”

Workforce Singapore is fielding 10 athletes throughout six sports activities for the Tokyo Paralympics, equalling the variety of sports activities Singapore participated in on the final version of the Video games.

4 of those athletes are collaborating for the primary time.
