BEIJING: China’s embassy in Britain on Sunday (Mar 19) condemned a go to this week by British lawmakers to Taiwan, saying they had been insisting on visiting the island regardless of China’s robust opposition.
Taiwan’s Presidential Workplace mentioned the group of six lawmakers from the British-Taiwanese All-Get together Parliamentary Group would meet President Tsai Ing-wen in Taipei on Monday.
China views democratically ruled Taiwan as its personal territory and has been ramping up army, political and financial strain to claim these claims.
An announcement from China’s embassy in London mentioned that the lawmakers have “insisted on visiting the Taiwan area of China regardless of China’s resolute opposition”.
It is a “gross interference in China’s inside affairs and a severe mistaken sign to Taiwan independence separatist forces,” the embassy mentioned.
“We need to inform the related British politicians that any act that harms China’s pursuits will certainly be vigorously countered by China,” it added, with out elaborating.
